The RDS (Radiation Displacement Damage Sensor) is the payload in charge of monitoring the DDD (Damage Displacement Dose) which is a long-term effect similar to the TID (Total Ionizing Dose). The DDD efect mainly consists in the displacement of materials nuclei from its lattice position. As the DDD increases some material can be changed and this change could be detected using this payload.
All the data gathered by this payload will be used to validate theoretical models used to predict the radiation received by satellites.
This payload was developed by INTA.
